Recycle it day

Room 1,2&3 have been learning about reducing, recycling and reusing rubbish. We know that when our rubbish gets put in the rubbish truck things don't end there. Our rubbish has an amazing journey involving shaking machines, magnets and people. Then some of our rubbish gets made into new things and some of it gets put into a landfill. This week Room 1,2&3 worked together to create new things from our rubbish. We came up with lots of creative ideas about how we could reuse different items.

Reducing reusing and recycling

Room 2&3 have been working with Room 1 to make new things from our rubbish
We made spring flowers using magazines and egg cartons. We cut the egg cartons into individual cups and painted them.
Then we cut squares of colourful paper from magazines. Miss Mehring showed us how to fold the paper and cut half a heart shape. When we unfolded our paper we had perfect petal shapes.

Recycle it

Rooms 1, 2 & 3 all got together to create new things from our rubbish.  We are learning how to reduce, reuse and recycle.  We had a great time and came up with some really creative ideas.  Lots of people worked together and helped each other with their creations.
Then we all got together and talked about what we had made.  It was a fantastic day.

We know two sounds the digraph 'ow' can make

The sounds in snow and cow.

We can make lots of combinations of hats and scarves on our snowmen.

Measuring feet

We made predictions about how many linking blocks long our foot will be.

Then we worked in our talking partners to trace around our feet and measure them with blocks.

Next we measured our feet with rulers.

We found it tricky to trace around our feet.

Next we measured the circles outside.
